How to create a link-in-bio page — what to place first

A link-in-bio page connects to a profile link in your Instagram profile and gathers products, forms, social accounts, and galleries in one place. Start by narrowing visitor actions to one or two and placing the most important destination first.

How do link in bio and Multilink differ?

Link in bio refers to a link in your Instagram profile; Multilink refers to the page of destinations it opens. Instagram supports multiple profile links. A Multilink page is useful when you want custom layouts, application forms and click analytics together. The terms are often used interchangeably, but distinguishing the location—the profile link—from the destination page makes the concept clearer. In Forcletter, the public forcreator.co.kr/@username page is your Multilink. Paste that address into your Instagram profile to complete the link in bio.

Before building: choose one or two visitor actions

The most common first-time mistake is adding every link you have. A link-in-bio page should guide visitors, not just present a menu. Before building it, decide on one or two things visitors should ultimately do: register for this week's group buy, or subscribe to a newsletter and watch a featured video. A focused goal naturally determines block order and copy and reduces hesitation. Only then decide which blocks to add.

  • Write the visitor's next step in one sentence.
  • Prioritize at most one main action and one secondary action.
  • Leave out links with no reason to click now from the first version.
  • Distinguish conversion destinations such as products/forms from trust-building destinations such as social profiles/galleries.

Block order: put the most important destination first

  • Step 1: sign in to Forcletter with Kakao or Instagram (official Meta OAuth, no password storage) and choose your @username public page address.
  • Step 2: complete your name, short bio, and profile photo so visitors recognize the right place within a second.
  • Step 3: place the primary action block, such as this week's product or signup form, first. The area visible without scrolling is your most valuable space.
  • Step 4: place secondary actions such as a newsletter or featured video directly below.
  • Step 5: group browsing-oriented blocks such as social links, Instagram feed, and galleries near the bottom.
  • Step 6: paste the completed Multilink URL into Edit Profile → Links in the Instagram app.
  • Step 7: open it on mobile and check that the primary action appears on the first screen.

When to use product, form, social, and gallery blocks

Choose blocks for their purpose. Forcletter Multilink offers link, product, social, form, gallery, and Instagram feed blocks, each serving a different need. Rather than adding everything, start with the blocks supporting your one or two chosen actions for a cleaner page and more focused clicks.

  • Product block: for a destination where people can buy now, such as group buys or sales. Price and imagery encourage action.
  • Form block: when collecting visitor information for applications, waitlists, or inquiries.
  • Social block: guide browsing toward YouTube, your blog, or other channels.
  • Gallery block: build trust by visually presenting portfolios, work samples, and review images.
  • Instagram feed block: automatically show recent posts to demonstrate an active account.
  • Link block: connect ordinary external links such as articles or event pages that do not fit the other types.

Write profile and button copy that leads to clicks

The same destination can receive different clicks depending on button wording. Explain what people get by taking an action, rather than merely naming the item. Replace vague labels such as “Link” or “Go” with verbs describing what happens. When the bio and first block form one continuous promise, visitors keep moving.

  • Replace “Go” with a specific action and object, such as “Join this week's group buy.”
  • Replace “Link” with a benefit such as “Get the free trial” or “Watch the 3-minute featured video.”
  • Make the first block fulfill the bio's promise, such as weekly information on a topic.
  • Give each button just one action so visitors know where to click.

Bring in traffic through QR codes, Stories, and Reel comments

Creating a Multilink page does not automatically bring visitors. Add entry points beyond your profile: QR codes offline, and Story link stickers and post/Reel instructions on Instagram. These routes collect traffic on one page. Offering a link when someone comments a keyword also encourages comment engagement.

  • Put your Multilink QR code on business cards, packaging, and event booths.
  • Link directly to the page with a Story link sticker.
  • Add a next-step instruction in Reel/post captions, such as “Apply through the link in my profile.”
  • Forcletter comment auto-DM sends a preset message when someone comments a keyword such as APPLY. Include the Multilink URL to deliver it only to commenters.

Use click analytics to improve block order

A link-in-bio page should evolve with click data. Forcletter Multilink provides page views and per-block click analytics so you can see what gets used. Statistics show what people clicked, not guaranteed outcomes; use trends to form hypotheses and try changes.

  • If first-block clicks are low relative to views, check whether its wording or destination differs from visitors' expectations.
  • If a lower block gets more clicks, move it higher.
  • Remove or group rarely clicked blocks to simplify the page.
  • Forcletter also offers A/B testing and AI Poki suggestions for comparing orders and copy variations, without guaranteeing results.

Common mistakes: too many links, dead links, and a scattered identity

  • Too many links: more than ten choices can make visitors click nothing. Start by reducing to essentials.
  • Dead links: expired offers and events erode trust. Review links regularly and remove ended offers.
  • Scattered identity: mixing unrelated side-hustle, shopping, and lifestyle topics confuses visitors. Align block topics with the bio.
  • No mobile check: most people view on phones, so desktop-only testing misses broken layouts. Open it on a phone.
  • Neglect: never checking statistics means missing opportunities to improve the order.

Who this guide is for

  • Creators building their first link-in-bio page and unsure where to start.
  • People running group buys or sales who need one page for applications and purchases.
  • People gathering newsletters, YouTube, and other channels behind an Instagram profile link.
  • People with an existing Multilink page whose clicks are scattered and who want to reorder it.

When it is a lower priority

  • If you have only one destination, putting that link directly in your profile is enough.
  • If you have not chosen the action to encourage, decide the goal first.
  • If post reach and saves are more urgent than link clicks, diagnose content first.
